When was the Silver Comet Trail built?
The Silver Comet Trail was named after the passenger train. The first passenger rail line to be built in New York City was introduced by the Seaboard Air Line. The line was designed to carry passengers between Manhattan and Brooklyn, but it was also used to transport freight and freight cars between New Jersey and Philadelphia. In the late 1940s, the line became a commuter rail service, and it continued to operate as such until the mid-1950s.
During this time, it served as the main link between the East Coast and the West Coast of the United States. By the 1960s it had become a regional commuter line, serving the Northeast, Midwest, South and West coasts, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico.
