The deer hunting season in Tennessee starts on Saturday, November 20. Muzzleloader rifles and shotguns can be used by sportsmen during gun season. The Tennessee Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCRN) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p. m. on Saturday to allow hunters to hunt deer, turkey, quail, squirrels, rabbits and other wildlife.
The season is open to all ages, but hunters must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid hunting license or permit. There are no restrictions on the number of animals that may be hunted during the deer season. However, there is a limit of one deer per person per day, per hunting unit, and no more than two animals per vehicle.
Hunters may use any type of firearm, including muzzleloaders, rifles, shotguns, bow and arrow, crossbows, air guns, bows and arrows, or any other firearm that is legal to use in the state of Tennessee at the time of the hunt.
