Dogs are allowed on a leash on the Wawona meadow loop trail, which is about 45 minutes away from the valley. The trail starts from the golf course across from the historic Wawona campground. The trailhead is located on the west side of the parking lot at the end of a dirt road. There are a few parking spots along the road, but it is best to park in the lot and walk to the trail head.
The trail starts at a small parking area with a picnic table and a sign that says “Trailhead Parking“. There is no trail sign, so you will have to look for it on your way up the hill. Once you reach the top, turn right and follow the dirt trail for about 1/2 mile until you come to a junction. Take the left fork and continue straight for a short distance.
At the junction, take the right fork to continue on a slightly longer trail that will take you back to your starting point. You will be able to see a large rock outcropping that looks like it could be a waterfall.

Is El Capitan Meadow dog friendly?
Don’t miss the TRIPLE CROWN: Half Dome, El CAPITAN, and Glacier Point. Towering 3,593 feet above the valley floor, El Capitan is a must see. There is a paved trail leading to the base of the mountain and leashed dogs are allowed on it. The Half Dome is the highest point in Yosemite National Park.
It is also the most difficult climb in the park due to its sheer height and steepness. From the parking lot, take a right at the first intersection and follow the road to a parking area on your left. There are two ways to reach the summit. The first is to climb up the east side of El Camino Real and then turn left onto a dirt road.
This road will take you to an overlook overlooking the valley floor. Alternatively, you can take the same road and turn right onto the main road, which will lead you back to your car. Either way, be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the hike back down.
Are dogs allowed on Valley Loop trail Yosemite?
Dogs are only allowed to walk on asphalt surfaces in the park, and always on a leash. Dogs can’t be on any bare ground hiking path, shuttle buses or buildings. The only place in the park that dogs are interested in is the valley loop trail.

Is Mammoth dog friendly?
The National Park system is not the same as the Inyo National Forest. Being part of the National Forest makes the area more dog friendly than its neighbor.
