Is it hard to build a go-kart frame?
The easiest way to build a go-kart is to start with the main base frame. For convenience, we pre-drilled all the holes our plans called for, especially in areas that would be harder to get to once welded together. You’re ready to go after you’ve finished drilling. Once you’ve got the frame in place, it’s time to add the wheels and tires. The wheels are made from 1/4″ plywood, and the tires are 2×4s.
You’ll need to drill holes in both sides of each tire to attach them to the wheel base. If you don’t have access to a drill press, a hand drill will work just fine. Once you have the tire holes drilled, the next step is to glue the two pieces together to form the body of the kart. To do this, first cut a piece of 1×6 and glue it to one side of your frame.
Next, cut another piece to fit over the top of that piece. Finally, glue both pieces of wood together, making sure to leave a little bit of space between the pieces. This will allow the glue to spread evenly throughout the wood, which will make it easier to work with in the future.
