How do you catch walleye from a canoe?
One of the most effective ways we have found to catch walleye from a canoe is by drifting. Drifting a pink 3/8 ounce jig and white twister is a deadly technique anywhere there is current. When you get to a spot where you can’t see the water, pick up your jigger and throw it into the river. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a few fish.
If you don’t have the time to drift, there are other ways. You can use the same technique to fish for trout, but it’s a little more difficult. First, make sure you have a good line. The best way to do this is to make a loop in the line and tie it off at one end.
Then, tie the other end of your line around the loop you just made. This will make it easier to reel in your fish when you need to. Once you’ve hooked your first fish, use your hook and line to drag the fish back to shore.
Is fishing from a kayak or canoe better?
Even on rough waters, kayaking keeps you stable. Canoes are higher on the water than kayaks. Fishing in these boats tends to be less stable. If you prefer to stand while fishing, this is true. Canoes and Kayaks are not the only types of boats that can be used for fishing.
You can also use a canoe or kayak to fish for bass, walleye, catfish, crappie, and other species of fish that are found in the rivers and lakes of the state.
How can I make my canoe more comfortable?

How do you catch a lake trout from a canoe?
Some tips for successful trolling from a canoe: When fishing for summer lake trout, you want to stay in the 40- to 55-foot range. Try to troll along drop-offs or around shoals and islands that are next to deep holes. When a trout bites your lure, it’s important to set the hook hard. The trout have small, hard hooks.
If you’re trolling with a hook that’s too big, the trout will try to pull it out of the water. When trolling for winter lake salmon, stay at least 50 feet away from the shoreline. You want the salmon to be able to see you, but not too close to you. They’ll be more likely to bite if they can’t see the bait.

Can you stand in a canoe?
Everyone knows you shouldn’t stand in a canoe, but you can do it with practice. You can get a good grip on the paddle if you move as close as possible to the center of the boat, where the hull is widest. If you’re not sure where to stand, try standing in the middle of a row of paddles.
This will give you an idea of how far away you are from the other paddlers. If you can’t stand on your own, stand next to a friend or family member who can. You’ll have a better sense of where you need to be.
