How long is Orange Blossom Trail in Florida?
For the last seven years, the seven-mile section of u.s. highway 441 known as the orange blossom trail or simply the trail or i-4 has been one of the busiest stretches of road in the united states. It’s also the busiest, with more than 1.5 million vehicles passing through it each day, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
That’s more vehicles than the entire state of California, which has a population of just over 7 million people. And it’s nearly twice as many vehicles as the next busiest stretch of highway in Texas, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tollway (TCT), which is home to about 2.2 million residents. The TCT is the second-busiest in North America, trailing only the New Jersey Turnpike in terms of miles traveled per day.
(The New York State Thruway, meanwhile, is third, at about 1 million miles per year.) The Trail’s popularity is due in large part to its proximity to Orlando International Airport (OIA), the largest airport in Florida, and the fact that it runs through the heart of downtown Orlando, a city that has long been known for its vibrant nightlife.
