Are terminal 2 and 4 connected at JFK?
You can get a post-security flight connection on the airside bus between terminal 2 and terminal 4. The shuttle bus is operated by Singapore Airlines and runs between terminal 2 and terminal 4.
If you’re coming from the airport, you’ll need to get off the bus and walk to the terminal to board the flight.
If you want to take a taxi, it’s best to do this before you get on the plane, as the taxi drivers may not be able to help you with your luggage.
Do I need to go through security for a connecting flight at JFK?
JFK is your USA point-of-entry, you will go through Immigration/Passport Control, retrieve your luggage, head through Customs, and then hand it off. You will go through the security again. You will have to reclear the process, but it is worth it.
If you do not have a US passport, or if you are traveling to a country that does not allow US citizens to enter the country without a visa, your best bet is to go to the nearest US Embassy or Consulate and ask for a tourist visa. This will allow you to stay in the US for up to 90 days without having to return to your country of origin.
The visa will be valid for the duration of your stay, and you can then travel to any other country you wish.
Can I change terminals at JFK without leaving security?
The cost of a round-trip flight from JFK to LAX is about $1,200 round trip. If you want to take a direct flight, you’ll have to pay a bit more, but it’s still cheaper than flying to the West Coast.
Can I walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 at JFK?
The roads are busy on the inside of the airport loop and JFK doesn’t encourage walking between terminals. It is possible to walk between some of the terminals that are closer together, such as Terminals 1 and 2, and Terminals 3 and 4. The closest terminal to Terminal 5 is Terminal 6, which is a bit further away than the other terminals.
If you want to take a taxi, you can use the taxi stand at the entrance to the main terminal building. You can also use a shuttle bus to get to your destination, although it will be more expensive than taking a cab.
