Cooper announced a new health order Friday afternoon that prohibits the consumption of alcohol outside a permitted area in downtown Nashville and Midtown. The consumption of alcohol outside of an establishment licensed to serve alcohol will be banned under the new health order. Violators could face a fine of up to $1,000 and/or a jail sentence of no more than 30 days. “This is an important step in our efforts to protect the health and safety of all Tennesseans,” Cooper said in a news release.
