Why is eating not allowed in the library?
Liquids have the potential of deteriorating library material hence making them unusable among library users. The purpose for which the building and reading spaces were built was lost when eating and drinking is allowed in the library.

If a library patron is found to be in violation of this rule, the patron will be subject to a fine of up to $500.00 and/or a suspension of one or more library privileges for a period of not more than 30 days.

Members may eat and drink only in designated areas of the University Library. Members are not allowed to use alcohol or drugs on the University property. All members must be at least 18 years of age. University reserves the right to refuse admission to, and eject from, any member for any reason.
Any member who is found to be in violation of these rules may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion. In the event that a member is expelled, he or she will not be allowed to re-apply for membership for a period of one year.
