The reference to the apostle Peter walking on water in Mark and John is not in the Gospel of Mark, but in John’s. This is the only instance in which the word “walked” is used in connection with Jesus, and it does not occur in any of the other gospels.

What is the science behind Jesus walking on water?
Israel and the U.S. have come up with a scientific explanation of how Jesus could have walked on water. They said that it was floating on the sea.
In a paper published in the journal Nature Geoscience, a team of researchers from Tel Aviv University and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) describe how they were able to determine the location of Jesus’ birthplace using satellite imagery.
